How can I find out what happens in the media center?
Read some our newsletters!
When do I check out books?
Students may check out books from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with teacher's permission. You also may check out books when you come into the media center with your class.
Teachers may check out books from 6:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. If I am not in the media center, teachers, please stack your selections on my desk with your name attached, and I will deliver check them out and deliver them that morning.
What do I need to visit the media center if I am a student?
Bring a note or a pass from your teacher. If you are coming for a reason other than checking out a book, have your teacher write that reason on your pass. If I do not have another class, teachers may send up to four students to the media center at a time.
How many books may I check out?
Ultimately, it is up to your teacher. The suggested guidelines are one book at a time for Pre-K, Kindergarten, and First graders. Second through Fifth graders may borrow two books at a time plus an additional book for projects and assignments. However, if you already owe money for lost and damaged books, or if you have an overdue item, those matters have to be cleared up before you check out any additional items.
How can my entire class schedule time to come to the Media Center?
Your teacher can come to the Media Center to sign up for time on the schedule located behind Ms. O'Connor's desk. Teachers should make sure that they collaborate with Ms. O'Connor if special topics are to be covered or if the class has a special project. Storytime and book circulation are also a very valid reason for coming to the Media Center!
